China International Tourism Mart 1998
After recently years of development, CITM gradually stepped into the list of developed tourist countries in the world. In order to further open up international tourist market, to steady the achievements that we've got, and to perfect promotion tool, National Tourism Administration decided to hold China International Tourism Mart since 1998. To hold the CITM is one of the most effective tools to promote tourist industry, China National Tourism Administration planed to take several years to make it a very influential mart in the world and Asia and Pacific regions. Mart 1998 was held in Shanghai World Trade City from Oct. 29 to Nov. 01, total four days. There were 1300 registered exhibitors from 26 countries and regions in the world have attended the mart. Covering the exhibition area of 19,000 square meters, set up 998 standard booths, of which 824 standard booths were domestic travel agencies, and 174 standard booths were overseas travel agencies and enterprises.
This mart was mainly classified a professional exhibition, open to the public at the same time. National Tourist Administration invited approximately 1000 persons including overseas traveling wholesalers and agencies as buyers to present the mart. Simultaneously, overseas reporters and the principals of related countries & international organization were also invited.
China International Tourism Mart 2000
CITM 2000 was successfully held in Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center from Oct. 18 to 21.
This mart attracted nearly 10,000 domestic and foreign travel insiders and exhibitors from five continents, 42 countries and regions to participate. This section total set up 1,028 booths/raw spaces, covered a land area of 24,000 square meters. It invited 1,359 buyers including domestic and overseas ones. About 1,000 news reporters joined into the related news reporting and interviewing work. 1,182 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions in the world registered and attended the mart. Total 1,208 booths, of which 326 booths were overseas, 886 booths were domestic.
According to the region, the proportion of exhibitors is: Asia 11%, Europe 4.7%, Africa 0.5%, Oceania 1.3%, United State 2.1%, and China 80.4% (include Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR).
According to the type of service, can be divided into: Airline Company 3.8%, Travel spot 7.8%, Pleasure boat 2%, National/Regional tourist organization 13.7%, Hotel/Hotel Management Group 25%, Travel Agency 36%, CRS 5%, and others 6.7%.
CITM 2000 total organized 1,359 delegates of domestic and foreign buyers from 43 counties and regions to attend the mart. In addition, if add the travel agencies' clients and the buyers registered in a happy hour, the total amount of buyers of CITM 2000 reached 1,522 persons.
China International Tourism Mart 2001
CITM 2001 was successfully held in Kunming International Trade Center on Nov. 8 to 11, 2001.
CITM 2001 was the third CITM, with total exhibition area of 25,000 square meters and 1,256 booths, of which 966 were domestic booths, 290 were overseas ones. The date of November 8 to 9 was open to the insider, to the public on Nov. 10 to 11. There was more than 1, 2000 domestic exhibitors have attended the mart, and overseas ones had over 300, from 37 countries and regions (include Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR). It had 1,200 overseas buyers from nearly 50 countries and regions, 8,000 insiders, thousands of visitors and hundreds of news media from home and abroad joined this mart to interview and report.
Since CITM was the first time to be held in 1998, it got a favorable reputation from the domestic and foreign tourism insiders all the time for its large-scale exhibition, big number of exhibitors, effective consultation and powerful internationalism, it has been the largest international tourism mart in Asia currently.

There was total exhibition area of 34,500 square meters in CITM 2002, set up 1,614 booths, of which 1111 were domestic booths, and 503 were overseas ones. A total 46 countries and regions attended the mart, namely Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Maldives, Thailand, Australia, Cambodia, Macau, Korea, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Brunei, New Zealand, Nepal, Malaysia, South-Africa, Mongolia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, India, Tunisia, Cuba, America, Canada, Finland, Ukraine, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Spain, Germany, Greece, Holland, Turkey, England, Sweden, Egypt, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, French, Denmark, China. The number of domestic exhibitors reached over 1700, and overseas ones up to over 800.
Increasing nearly 10% of exhibiting countries compared with CITM 2001. According to the region, the proportion of exhibitors as following: Asia 13.8%, Europe 10.9%, Oceania 2.2%, America 4.2%, Africa 0.7%, China 68.2% (include Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR); According to the type of business: airlines companies made up 2.07%, travel spot made up 10.8%, pleasure boat made up 0.74%, national or regional tourist organizations made up 18.15%, hotel/hotel management group made up 20.3%, travel agencies made up 43.33%, tour sites and hotel reservation made up 0.96% and others made up 4.37%. There were nearly 1,000 tourist insiders and over 50,000 visitors presented the mart. During the mart, each exhibitor units hung out 30,000,000 copies of various materials. And over 1200 domestic and foreign buyers from all around world participated in CITM 2002.
China International Tourism Mart 2003
During CITM 2003, there were total exhibition area of 30,000 square meters, set up 1451 standard booths in all, of which 1098 were domestic booths, 356 were overseas ones.
Exhibitors from 49 countries and regions attended this mart, including Australia , Austria , Brunei , Cambodia , Canada , China , Cuba , Czech , Denmark , Egypt , Fiji , France , Germany , Greece , Hong Kong SAR, Hungary , India , Indonesia , Italy , Japan , Korea , Laos , Macau SAR, Malaysia , Maldives , Malta , Mongolia , Nepal , New Zealand , Papau New Guinea , Philippines , Poland , Russia , Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Tuyalu, England, Ukraine, America, Vanuatu, Vietnam.
In this mart, there were over 1700 exhibitor units, involving 1,370 domestic exhibitor units and 330 overseas exhibitor units. According to the region, the proportion of exhibitors as following: Asia 12.1%, Europe 5.6%, Oceania 1.3%, America 2.1%, Africa 1.4%, China 77.5% (include Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR); According to the type of business: airlines companies made up 2.22%, travel spot made up 8.56%, pleasure boat made up 1.48%, national or regional tourist organizations made up 22.92%, hotel/hotel management group made up 17.11%, travel agencies made up 41.34%, and others made up 6.37%. There were nearly 1,000 tourist insiders and over 20,000 visitors presented the mart. During the mart, each exhibitor units hung out 15,000,000 copies of various materials.
And over 1200 domestic and foreign buyers from all around world were invited to part6icipate in CITM 2002.
China International Tourism Mart 2004
During CITM 2004, occupied a total exhibition area of 46,000 square meters, and raw spaces of 14,337 square meters, made up 86.2%, involving 1848 exhibition booths, of which 1196 booths were for domestic exhibitors, sized 35%, 952 booths for overseas exhibitors, made up 35%, and 255 standard booths, made up 13.8%.
The participators from 64 countries and regions in the world, namely: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Cuba, CYPRUS, Czech, Denmark, Egypt, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Luxembourg, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Norway, Palau, Papau New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Samoa, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Tuvalu, Ukraine, United Kingdom, America, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe. In this mart, there were more than 2900 exhibitor units attended, among, 1850 were domestic exhibitor units, and 1050 were overseas exhibitor units. In terms of region, Asia made up 10.2%, Europe made up 12.1%, Oceania made up 1.7%, America 1.5%, Africa 3.9%, China 70.6% (include Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR); In terms of service type, travel agencies 34.88%, hotel/hotel management group 24.85%, executive tourist organization 19.79%, travel spot 11.40%, airlines companies 3.26%, cruise 1.03%, folk tourist organization 0.94%, Tourism media 0.60%, exhibition industry 0.51%, travel transportation 0.34%, international tourist organization 0.17%, computer reservation system and others 2.23%.
In addition, CITM 2004 also organized over 1000 overseas buyer from all over the world to participate.
Basic Summary on CITM 2005
CITM 2005 was successfully held in Kunming International Exhibition Center on Nov. 24 to Nov. 27. It occupied a total exhibition area of 42,000 square meters, set up 1964 exhibition booths, of which 1268 booths were for domestic exhibitors, and 696 for overseas exhibitors. There were 1768 special booths, made up 90%, and 205 standard booths, occupied 10%.
A total of 210 exhibition groups have attended this mart, involving 31 municipalities' exhibition groups, 38 domestic separate exhibition groups and 141 overseas exhibition groups.

More than 3100 exhibitor units in this mart, of which 1975 were domestic exhibitor units, 1125 were overseas exhibitor units. In the terms of the region, 79.83% of exhibitors came from Asia, 11.36% from Europe, 0.7% from Oceania, 6.69% from America , 1.42% from Africa . In the terms of business type: travel agencies 34.99%, hotel/hotel management group 26.67%, executive tourism organization 18.10%, travel spot 10.34%, airlines companies 4.82%, cruise 1.12%, computer reservation system and others 2.90%.
In CITM 2005, the number of exhibition booths, exhibitors and countries as well as the regions stepped over a highest level.
